We leave 5 weeks tomorrow and I think its fair to say we are both really excited! We have now had all of our injections, we have our anti-malarials and everything is nicely coming together. We have also applied for a credit card in case of emergencies when we are away! My parents get back from Japan today and that's another big milestone before our trip. Its all coming together so fast, can't beleive that its been nearly a whole year since we booked this trip!
I have recently read the Quiet American by Graham Greene and Tree of Smoke by Denis Johnson. Quiet American = YAY! Tree of Smoke = BOO! I have ordered a book from the library called Jungle Soldier by Brian Monyahan, which is a true story about a British soldier shot down in Malaya, who decides to wage a one man campaign against the Japanese. The Japanese thought it was 200 men, so sent a whole regiment to try and deal with just one man!
In a couple of weeks we are going to Glasgow to go shopping. We are getting holiday clothes, sun cream and mozzy repellant and nets. After that we will just have to order our currency and that will pretty much be everything in place for going away.
Its going to be a pretty hectic weekend when we leave too. I am Wrestling in Dundee on Saturday the 28th of August, then we are taking Irish Wrestler, Bingo Ballance back to the flat as he is flying out from Edinburgh on the Sunday morning. I'll have to get up super early to take him to the airport first thing, before rushing back to my parents to leave my car on their driveway. Then it will be our turn to go to the airport for countless hours of flying! We leave Edinburgh at 12 noon on the Sunday, before flying to Hanoi via Paris and Bangkok. We arrive in Hanoi at 15:00 local time on the Monday!
